Entrevista a Erik Kormann 21 octubre 2015

Desde la primera vez que olimos los perfumes de Erik Kormann, no dudamos ni un segundo en quererlos traer a Les Topettes. Unas creaciones minimalistas, pero con fuerza y carácter, que evolucionan de forma sorprendente en piel y con una gran fijación.

Erik Kormann y su mujer Xenia Trost, regentan desde 2001 una genial tienda de jabones en Berlín, donde ella crea los jabones y él trabaja sus fórmulas para crear sus peculiares perfumes. La Aventura empieza cuando Erik Kormann se topa con el mundo de las fragancias gracias a un amigo aromaterapeuta, cautivado por los olores, empieza a estudiar y a crear sus formulas con aceites esenciales, pero más tarde descubre las materias primas sintéticas y es cuando estalla su creatividad y su forma de hacer perfumes.

Aquí te dejamos una pequeña entrevista, para descubrir un poco más a este inusual perfumista.

L.T-Can you make a self-portrait illustration?

-E.K- Ok my nose is really a little bit smaller and it’s not blue, But when I play Saxophon I can feel the fragrance.

-L.T- When, why and how start your passion to the perfumery?

-E.K- I started in 2007, inspired by a good friend – an aroma therapist who taught me how to blend essential oils. I took the step to classical perfumery when I realized the limitations of the work with natural ingredients.

-LT- Can you tell us a Smell That send you directly to your childhood?

-E.K- In my childhood we used to have a band-aid with the irresistible scent of gardenia blossoms.

-L.T- How became the idea to inspired in the months of the year in some of your fragrance?

-E.K- These perfumes are composed of exactly as many ingredients as the number of the month indicates: Juli = 7 components, August = 8 components, Dezember = 12 components and so on.

-L.T- Change your way to create perfumes after to meet Gesa Schoen from Escentric Molecules?

-E.K- Yes, my creations became more minimalistic.

-L.T- How is your process to create a perfume, and the best thing of create it?

-E.K- For me it’s very essential to have enough time to develop the idea in my mind. After that things happen very fast. I prepare different small samples until I get the desired result.

-L.T- Which are your natural and your synthetic favorites raw material, and why?

-E.K- My favourite is Javanol and my second favourite is pink pepper essential oil (Schinus molle). Why? – they smell good!

-L.T- Do you have any new project, any new month to turn in an olfactory project?

-E.K- My next project is “Steampunk Aero”: Lemonade & elderflower syrup scented

-L.T- Do you play saxophone too, it is possible to turn some song in a perfume, how this smell?

-E.K- Earl Bostics “Night Train” reminds me of “Dezember”, Paul Desmonds “Take Five” of “Juli”.
